Prince Aximili, an Andalite better known as Ax, was the younger brother of Prince Elfangor. Although not one of the original Animorphs, Ax fought in almost all of the First War. He has, as of this point in the series, no romantic interests.

Canon History

Contains Spoilers
Ax first appeared in book 4: The Message, when the Animorphs rescued him from the bottom of the ocean. Ax came to Earth along with his older brother and many other Andalites under the command of Captain Nerefir. When their Dome ship, the GalaxyTree was ambushed by the Blade ship, all but Ax were killed.

Ax fought alongside the Animorphs for nearly the entire war. He accepted Jake as his Prince shortly after they met. In later books, Ax repeatedly chose to obey Jake over various Andalite officers, although he did abandon Jake in book 18: The Decision, and he even went so far as to knock Jake unconscious and completely disobey him in book 46: The Deception.

After the war, Ax abandoned his human friends to further his own career, eventually becoming a Prince and the Captain of the Dome ship Intrepid, in charge of hunting down the renegade Yeerks in the Blade ship. Ax was the first of the Animorphs to encounter the Yeerks after their deal with The One. Ax was easily trapped by the Yeerks and captured. He ended the canon series that way.

Neomorphs History

At the beginning of the Neomorphs series, Ax was enslaved to The One. In book 55: The Prologue, he became the host of The Visser. He served as the Visser's host until book 64: The Liberation. At that point, he served alongside the Animorphs once again.

Ax was officially Tobias's second in command, as it was stated in book 65: The Pact. After he lost an eye in battle with Kelbrid, Tobias started (in his head) to compare him to Xiahou Dun, Cao Cao's most trusted officer and one of his greatest warriors; Xaihou Dun was known for consuming his own eye after it was shot with an arrow in a battle.

Had it not been for Jake's resurrection, Ax would most likely have been the one leading the war on Omega Front.

Personal Life

Ax gained the rank of Prince at the end of the First War. He never had any important romantic relationships, leading to some speculation (see Trivia below). His closest friend remains Tobias, though they have drifted apart somewhat. Ax is also close to his nephew, Al. He also maintains something of a relationship with the other original Animorphs, but aside from this, he is not particularly close to the others.

Notable Changes

Aximil in Neomorphs is more bitter than the previous incarnations, and even more driven by revenge than before. His time as a Controller scarred him deeply.

Trivia

  • It is suspected by many that Ax is a homosexual. This would explain his lack of any meaningful romantic relationships. capnnerefir has said on many occasions that Ax is indeed a homosexual, but it is unclear whether he was joking or not.
  • In The Andalite Chronicles, a young Elfangor explained that all Andalites who are granted access to the morphing technology must undergo a morphing proficiency test. This entails acquiring and morphing a Djabala. Unless this practice has been discontinued, it can be assumed that Ax possesses this morph as well.
  • In The Experiment, Ax also mentioned kafit birds and hoobers, commenting that "We [Andalites] practiced morphing these creatures." This implies that he may possess these morphs as well.
